The word “AQUA” might not sounds familiar as a brand, but it is the most acknowledged mineral water trademark in Indonesia. In fact, most of Indonesian uses the name “AQUA” to every bottled water in the country, although there are a lot of other. Another interesting fact, the idea of bottled water marketing in Indonesia was considered very disadvantaging over the fact that the country is tropical, which means water is not a problem. In fact this product’s actual marketing target was foreign country such as the middle east, but now it is one of the most popular trademark in the country.

My tutorial of the day is going to explains to you how to make the “AQUA” trademark in a fun and easy step by step mechanism!. This is the actual final result of the tutorial (“AQUA” trademark):

1. First we are going to use these view shapes. Some shapes are the combination of other shapes.

image

2. To create ‘Shape 1’, click Elipse Tool on toolbox or press F7. While pressing the Ctrl button, draw a circle just like the image below. Next click Shape Tool then modify the circle till it similar to Shape 1.

image

3. You create ‘Shape 2’ by using Polygon Tool, then set its number at 3 on the Points or Sides box on the upper toolbar.

4. ‘Shape 3’ and ‘Shape 4’ is a created by the combination of ‘Shape 1’ and ‘Shape 2’. First we’ll duplicate and flip ‘Shape 1’ horizontally, click ‘Shape 1’ then click Arrange>>Transformation>>Scale. And then on the sidebar we will have, activate button Horizontal Mirror, then set its number to 1 at the Copies box, finally click the Apply button. Then we’ll have the duplication of ‘Shape 1’. Then sets both of the shapes as the image described.

Next duplicate ‘Shape 2’ by clicking ‘Shape 2’ then press Ctrl+D. Set the result of the duplication as the image described.

Do the same to create ‘Shape 4’.

5. To create ‘Shape 5’ would require a bit more of your skills. Create the basic form of ‘Shape 5’ by using Polygon Tool (as you can see in the image). Double-Click the object to activate Shape Tool, then press Ctrl+A to select the whole node, then click Convert to Curve on the upper toolbar.
Next make modify each node to have the form of the object that we wanted.

image

6. Next we’ll create the text. Create a text as the image below described by using Text Tool. I personally use Britannic Bold font. We’ll cut of the text side to side, create a horizontal line on the text just like the image does. Then click the second object (text and line), and click Back Minus Front on the upper toolbar. Then right click the object, then click Break Curve Apart. That way, we could temporarily move the upper part of the text, and edit its lower part on the next step.

image

7. At this point we’ll use Shape 1, 3, 4, and 5 that we’ve created before. Duplicate and set those shapes on the lower part of the text so that it would look like image does. Next click the lower part of the letter “A” including the shapes that it have, then click Weld on upper toolbar. Do the same to the letter “U” while keep the letter “O” just the way it is.

image

8. Next we’ll give an outline on the lower part of the letter “A”. Click the lower part of the letter “A”, then click Outline Tool. On the opened Outline Pen window, fill the parameter just the way the image does. Apply the to the other letter.

9. We will one more time give an outline on the lower part of the letter “A”, but with the different color and density. First duplicate the lower part of the letter “A” that we previously give white outline and change the color of the letter which was blue to grey. Then click Outline Tool, then on the opened window fill the parameter as the image does. Next, press Ctrl+End to move it to the lowest part of the other object. Now, the letter “A” have two outlines, which are white and dark blue. Do the same to the letter “O” and “U”.

10. Now we start to work on the upper part of the text. First, we’ll give an interactive color to it. Click the upper part of the letter “A”, then click Interactive Fill Tool on toolbox, then fill the parameter on upper toolbar as the image described. Do the same to the other letter.

11. Next, to put outlines, do the same as the mechanism on point 7 and 8. Make sure the result resemble to the image below.

12. The last part is to put the upper part of the letter and the lower part of the letter together. Have a nice try.
